Ethel Steele’s practice focuses on general corporate, contract, real estate, landlord/tenant, construction, and government/administrative matters.  Ethel routinely advises clients on Texas government entity procurement laws and the Texas Open Meetings Act.  She has drafted and negotiated a broad array of transactions including real estate easements, commercial leases, purchase and sale agreements, utility agreements, interlocal agreements, and company formations.  She is a results-oriented attorney dedicated to problem solving for her clients.  Prior to joining Pope Hardwicke, Ethel spent more than 20 years as in-house counsel, as well as leading business units, for one of the largest Class 1 railroad systems in North America.   She has experience working with clients ranging in size from individuals to non-profit organizations and multi-national corporations.  Ethel has also prepared and presented seminars on contracts, indemnity, insurance, warranty, antitrust and ethics.

Ethel enjoys volunteering her time to various community organizations.  She is a past Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters and served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Expanco, Inc., a non-profit agency whose mission is to provide services and opportunities for individuals with disabilities to help them maximize their independence, earnings potential and social skills.   She has also volunteered her time for pro-bono legal clinics, the Tarrant County Bar LegalLine, Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans, Junior Achievement, and corporate diversity committees.
